Northern Explorer train to Otorohanga and Waitomo Caves
You can catch the Auckland to Wellington train to Otorohanga Railway Station on Saturday, Monday, and Thursday. Trains from Wellington to Otorohanga depart on Friday, Sunday, and Tuesday.
Located in King Country, Otorohanga Station is the closest to Waitomo Caves, famous for its glowworms and potholing.
Please book in advance to ensure the train stops at Otorohanga Railway Station.
Northern Explorer Check In
- Arrive at Station 20 minutes early
- Wait near the centre of the platform for the train to arrive
- A crew member will greet you on the platform once the train has arrived to check you in and provide you with your Boarding Pass and Luggage Labels.
- All wheeled bags, large backpacks, and suitcases will need to be taken to the Luggage Carriage.
